MOUNT Waverley's Norm Gibbs has been thanked by the Monash Medical Centre as part of World Volunteer Day.

Mr Gibbs has been volunteering in the Children's Hospital for the past 14 years by dressing up as Zodo the clown. Centre chief executive Shelly Park said volunteers were a tremendous help to patients and visitors.

"They lighten the load for our staff, help make visitors feel welcome and can always be relied on to have a friendly chat with patients."
