MONASH Medical Centre has improved its performance since the first half of last year but has still failed to meet most State Government benchmarks, according to a report.
The Your Hospitals report, released on July 17, revealed MMC in Clayton failed to meet six out of nine benchmarks for July-December 2008.
Opposition health spokeswoman Helen Shardey said the report was evidence that MMC was "buckling under the pressure of the Government's inaction".
However, Health Minister Daniel Andrews said Victorian hospitals treated a record number of elective surgery patients and "improved or equalled their performance" compared to the same time the previous year.
Category one emergency department patients - the most urgent patients - were all seen immediately.
However, 69per cent of category two patients were seen within 10minutes, below the benchmark of 80per cent.
Category three patients seen within 30 minutes - for conditions such as moderately severe blood loss and persistent vomiting - was well below the Government benchmark of 75per cent with only 56per cent seen on time.
Elective surgery patients admitted within a specified amount of time either improved or remained the same as the first half of last year.
Category one elective surgery patients were all admitted within 30 days, meeting the Government benchmark.
Despite more category two patients being admitted within 90 days (from 56per cent in January-July 2008 to 71per cent in July-December 2008) it still felt below the benchmark of 80per cent.
Category three patients admitted within one year remained at 88per cent, just below the benchmark of 90per cent.
Hospital bypasses decreased from 2.7per cent to 2.4per cent, which remained below the benchmark of 3per cent.
