THE Monash World Environment Day Awards will be presented at the Monash Civic Centre next week.

Prizes will be awarded to planet-friendly initiatives in five different categories: greenest household, sustainable new building/renovation, sustainable business, community and school poster competition. Guest speaker Auntie Joy Wandin Murphy, an elder of the Wurundjeri people, will talk about the international year of reconciliation and the need for more sustainable living. The awards ceremony will be held at the Monash Civic Centre, 293 Springvale Road, Glen Waverley at 7pm on Thursday, June 4.

Exposure probe

POLICE have appealed for witnesses to an obscene exposure incident in Oakleigh East.

About 7.15am on April 30, a man allegedly exposed himself and performed an indecent act at a bus stop at the intersection of Macrina Street and Dandenong Road.

The man was last seen heading along Franklyn Street and police believe he has returned to the area since the first incident. He is described as 25-35 years, Caucasian, of medium height with short dark brown hair and an earring in his left ear. He was wearing a white T-shirt, a beige jacket and blue jeans and carrying a black backpack. Details to Crime Stoppers on 1800333000.

Bottleshop robbed

THREE men robbed a Clayton bottle shop attendant at knifepoint last Sunday week. About 6.30pm on May 17, three men entered the bottle shop at the front of the Monash Hotel, produced a large knife and demanded money. The men forced the attendant to open the register and stole cash and four bottles of spirits.

They took off on foot and were last seen heading east along the Princess Highway. The men are described as 20-30 years and were wearing beanies and sunglasses at the time of the offence. Details to Crime Stoppers on 1800333000.

Export invitation

EXPORT businesses have been encouraged to apply for the 2009 Governor of Victoria Export Awards.

The award recognises successful export businesses and individuals. Applications are open until July 17. Details: www.export.vic.gov.au/awards
