IT'S been a long, delicate process for Wheelers Hill's Eldon Smith to win the Jaguar Car Club's most prestigious trophy. His 1934 SS1 Jaguar won the Sir William Lyons Trophy for 'best car' as well as the 'most improved' and 'pride of ownership' awards at the Jaguar Car Club of Victoria's show in Glen Waverley last month. When Mr Smith bought the now-gleaming specimen, it was little more than a shell of its former self, missing its headlights, tail-lights, running boards, bumper bars, hood, seats and other parts. The 19-year restoration process was complicated because of the lack of spare parts, requiring the missing parts to be manufactured.
