EastLink: Bikers' bridge still on delay

08 Jun, 2009 09:50 AM
DELAYS continue to plague a key bridge for cyclists and pedestrians along EastLink.

An overpass is being built at the Burwood Highway and Mountain Highway intersection in Wantirna South so cyclists won't need to cross Burwood Highway through the signalised intersection.

The works were initially due to be completed in March, but the Southern and Eastern Integrated Transport Authority then revised the deadline to June.

Last week, SEITA spokeswoman Jo Weeks said additional paint work was still required

before the main structure could be lifted into place over Burwood Highway.

Once the steel truss was in place, the main bridge would be connected to its ramps and general landscaping undertaken, she said.
