Olympic rower turned cyclist Amber Halliday was awarded an Amy Gillett Foundation cycling scholarship at Monash University earlier this month.
The four-time world champion rower made the career change late last year and has already won her first cycle tour, the NZCT Women's Cycle Tour of New Zealand, in February. The scholarship, announced on March 20 at Monash University's wind tunnel training facility, will allow 29-year-old Halliday to train with members of the Australian Institute of Sport women's cycling team for the next year and cover other benefits such as equipment and travel costs. Halliday said she was overwhelmed to be named as this year's scholarship holder. Picture: Ted Kloszynski
